Chase Chenoweth

Director of Fitness & Aquatics

Chase Chenoweth is a Jacksonville native and longtime San Jose employee.  Chase began his tenure at San Jose in 2003.  He managed the pool for a number of years, and upon earning his personal training credentials, he took to helping people set and achieve their fitness goals.  After two terms as Interim Fitness Director, Chase was promoted to the Assistant Fitness Director position in 2010 and became the Director of Fitness and Aquatics in 2013.  


Chase graduated from Mandarin High and went on to attend the University of North Florida.  He has always had a passion for athletics.  Growing up he participated in many different sports including football, baseball, cross-country, track and field, and his personal favorite, wrestling! 

Chase began personal training because of a love for helping people that still drives him today.  He enjoys working with all types of people but takes special interest in youth, pre-natal, and weight loss clientele.  Chase utilizes a multifaceted approach, incorporating nutrition, kinesiology, and physiology and loves using his acquired knowledge to help people of all shapes, sizes, and fitness levels.

 

David Kowalski

Assistant Director of Fitness

David was born and raised in Cape May, New Jersey. Growing up, he was always involved in baseball, football, golf, snowboarding and kickboxing — where he earned three Black-Belts.

 

While attending Florida State University he began his training at the Bobby E. Leach Center on campus where he received Certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

 

David enjoys working with each and every one of his clients, giving them that extra push when they need it the most! He has been at San Jose Country Club since 1015 and has had a wonderful time getting to know the Members and Employees. 

 

Currently, David is back in school at the University of North Florida seeking a second degree in Physical Therapy.

Carolyn has been passionately involved in the Fitness industry for 14 years.  She is an NASM Certified Personal Trainer with a B.S. in Health & Exercise Science from the University of North Florida. Due to her personal struggles with weight loss, Carolyn’s dedication to adopt a lifestyle of nutrition, health and fitness is something that she has been committed to. 
 
Carolyn began her career at the YMCA as a Personal Trainer and in a short amount of time worked her way up to become the Wellness Director of a growing Southside facility.  In 2005 she and her husband owned a San Marco based Personal Training studio where she managed the office and staff as well as, provided Personal Training to a robust clientele.
 
When she decided to start a family, she took some time off from her Personal Training career.  During that time Carolyn became motivated by her passion for cooking and nutrition so she began providing personal chef services for people trying to eat healthy and lose weight.   
 
Throughout her career, her approach to training & overall fitness is to empower each client to live a healthy lifestyle.  By providing a customized training program that identifies structural imbalances and weaknesses she is creative with each client she serves in formulating an exercise prescription to achieve optimal levels of wellness and performance.

As a trained ballet dancer, fitness comes naturally. Ballet instilled discipline and strength, both physically and mentally and, more importantly, has given me a love for the art. I am dedicated to constantly improve and strive for perfection. My fitness journey began in 2007 shortly after being introduced to Pilates, where I fell in love with the core strength and total body conditioning exercises. Eager to learn more from that point on, my exploration led me to pursue other certifications including Barre & Reformer Pilates.

Ellen Crook, a Tallahassee native, grew up with an active lifestyle of gymnastics, dance, swimming and soccer. She earned a B.S. in Exercise Science and Health Promotion cum laude from Florida Atlantic University and became a certified Health Fitness Specialist by the American College of Sports Medicine. She then moved to Jacksonville where she worked at the Jewish Community Alliance as a PE coach and personal trainer.

 

Ellen decided to go back to school in 2009, and earned a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology from Florida State University in 2011. She loved Jacksonville so much that she returned and worked at the High Intensity Training Center as a sports performance coach and personal trainer and as a personal trainer and youth sports coach. She started teaching a few classes at San Jose Country Club in 2014 and became a full time trainer the following year.

 

She enjoys working with all populations and is an avid believer of balance and flexibility training. Her ultimate goal is to help combat the childhood obesity epidemic. She currently enjoys running races locally and taking dance classes at Dance Trance in San Marco. Her favorite fitness quote is: “It’s never too late to reap the benefits of exercise, but nobody ever said it will be easy!”
